Fitness Goal Setting for 2023

How frequently do you reflect on your personal and professional accomplishments at the end of the year? Did you establish fitness goals at the start of the year that served to hold you accountable?

According to the University of Scranton, less than 3% of people actually take the time to develop goals, and only around 1% of those people actually write those goals down. With information like this, it makes sense why most people experience an endless loop of melancholy, dissatisfaction, and a general sensation of wanting more.

Setting fitness goals is one of the most effective exercises we can do. Setting realistic goals provides us a reason to work toward them and a sense of purpose. Even the most committed individuals experience motivational lows; nonetheless, the goals we set for ourselves serve as our constant source of inspiration.

So let's concentrate on making objectives for 2023. What should you concentrate on and how exactly do you set goals?

Do you know what the SMART stands for?

Specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-based are the letters that define it. It's a technique that enables you to focus your broad wishes and goals into concrete objectives that you can achieve. So let's get started.

SPECIFIC

MEASURABLE

ATTAINABLE

REALISTIC

TIME-BASED

The initial component is SPECIFIC To move forward, you must have well-defined, precise goals. For instance, if a person approaches me and says, "I want to lose weight and feel better," that objective is just too broad. I would inquire further in order to learn more details. Perhaps saying something like, "I want to lose 12-15 pounds and drop 3% percent body fat over the next 6 months," would be a better approach to state the aim. Now that we have a goal in mind, we can work toward it.

Your objectives must also be MEASURABLE. It is made very obvious in the example above that the objective is to lose 12–15 pounds as well as 3 percent body fat. Here, there is no room for doubt. Your findings will make it crystal evident whether or not you've succeeded in achieving your goals.

ATTAINABLE comes next. Sometimes, as humans, we have an overly optimistic outlook and establish goals that are completely unattainable. Very small women have come to me and said they want to drop 30 pounds in two months. Goals must be reachable, which means they can be difficult but not impossibly so. Using the aforementioned example, we may conclude that.5-2.0 pounds per week is a good weight loss rate for most people. The aforementioned goal can definitely be reached in 6 months.

REALISTIC is a word that is closely related to attainable.Once more, we want to confirm that we are positioning ourselves for success. I would be able to tell someone who came in and couldn't do a regular push-up that their goal of mastering a ring muscle up in three months was unattainable based solely on strength needs and expertise. It's critical that we create achievable goals.

The TIME-BASED component comes last. Setting deadlines for completing particular activities will motivate employees to stay on course.

As you can see, creating SMART goals is difficult but ultimately incredibly worthwhile. We at Genesis Training heavily promote fitness goal setting sessions in part because we are aware of the effectiveness of sincere goals in overcoming moments of low motivation.

Over time, motivation wanes, and the only people who can complete their task are those with clearly defined objectives and a forward-looking perspective.I dare you to take the last month of 2022 to think back on all you've done and make a list of everything you still want to do. Before you set the goals in stone, ask yourself if they are SMART.

It would be my pleasure to assist you in creating your goals for 2023 because I genuinely love assisting individuals in doing so. Click here to schedule a consultation with me.
